Zambia has also formed national inter-ministerial committees on human trafficking and taken preliminary steps to develop a national plan of action.
Some responses with participation of Civil Society
Government has established the Victim Support Units (VSU) at Police Stations that give special attention to abused women and children. Parliament has enacted a bill on the Protection of Children against Abuse, Rape and Sexual Exploitation. There are also efforts being carried out by two NGOs, namely Tasintha and MAPODE, that deal specifically with women and children in prostitution.
